I've been watering and weeding daily, and all the veggies are doing good. I ate my first radish yesterday, and they are just the best - what can I say. Tender, crisp, sweet and tangy. But still small, with big tops. I just don't know what I'm doing wrong. This year, I am convinced that if I add extra dirt around the plants, they will become bigger. Well, that's my plan. The green onions are ready to pull, spoon mustard is big enough to eat, some lettuce and spinach is also big enough. The tomatoes are getting blossoms, the beans are tall, but fall over when I water them. That worries me. And, as far as I'm concerned, this is still a drought. We get more rain than in previous years, but it needs to rain more to bring up water levels everywhere. Then I wouldn't have to use well water for the garden. I fill the barrel at night, so it gets a chance to warm up to outside temps.
I'm going to make some sort of new supper today, combining pork sausage, peppered gravy mix, refrigerator biscuits, and mashed potatoes. Of course, I'll be tinkering with it to make it my own, eventually. Will blog recipe when it's home-made and to my taste.
I got to talk to both of my brothers yesterday on the telephone, and they are both well and happy. I called my sister on the Fourth and she was happy to hear from me. My daughter has been having a bad time with her multiple sclerosis lately, my son has been enjoying his bass boat on his days off work. I'm going to visit my daughter tomorrow, see if I can help her with anything.
